In the late 15th century Philippo Vadi wrote De Arte Gladiatoria Dimicandi (The Art of Sword Fighting in Earnest). This includes 16 chapters on fencing theory with the longsword, as well as illustrated plays of the longsword, sword in armour, pollax, spear, and dagger. We have books on Vadi’s work including a full translation, commentary, and a full-colour facsimile of the treatise. We also have an audiobook of the text and translation, read in Italian and English.
